Carmine and Sueann time in Pittsburgh

Walking around the woods behind Kathy's sister's we found some pretty big trees.

This was one big oak tree.

Brian and Steven much have enjoyed these woods growing up; there were so many paths and crisscross paths.

See more big trees.

And some really big trees that were cut down; so sad.

The honey bees like Carmine's flowers.

Can you see the chipmunk on the seat; he was protecting his territory from another one that would from time to time try to run through. And oh the commotion he would make!

Kathy joined Carmine and Robert at Olive Garden visiting  with some former Bible Study friends.

Carmine can be seen through the beautiful sun flowers doing some grilling.

Carmine makes the best chipped ham sandwiches!

We took a drive one day to Mount Washington.

The beautiful church up there has the most amazing stained glass windows.

Further along this the the best new of the three rivers forming the point in Pittsburgh where William Penn had put his fort.

Here at the western most point of the scenic byway along Mt Washington is a little park.

The statue of two men forming a treaty.

Lots of bridges in Pittsburgh.

Back to some trail time behind Carmine's...

The remains of a homestead.

The power lines.

So sad to see the massive trees cut down; the mushrooms like this old stump.

The wildflowers are almost waist high.

This is Steven's field; leaves are changing.

It has been a long while since we have seen a praying mantis.

These two butterflies seemed to be stuck together.

Wild aster.

From the bluff you can look down on the shops along McKnight Road.

Puffball mushrooms.

The must have cut up this stump so it will rot faster; tick tac toe anyone?

The hollow barrels would make great bowls.

Beautiful trails.

Beetles on a milkweed plant; didn't find any monarch crystalist.

Beautiful fall colors.

Driving around one day we came upon the North Park Golf Club.

This was Kathy's parents house for a time; they had given it to Maria and Cliff who lived there for a time too.

Carmine got a new white ceiling in the kitchen.

And we scrubbed up all the fans getting off that grease and dust that kitchens seem to make.

Kathy went to dinner talk with Carmine about annuities and had her variable changed to a fixed index; you should do the same .

Walking walking walking.....

See the crystist and the monarch butterflies?

Kathy's high school friend, Linda, raises and releases them.  She tags them too; one of hers was found in Mexico!

Carmine celebrated her 63rd birthday; Shawn came and joined us for dinner and singing.

Over on University Drive this tree was carved into two mountain lions. Today it is in the play area of a private school.

This is the VA where Will goes when we are in Pittsburgh.

Beautiful flowers...

Sueann has a few straggly figs on her tree this year; last year she a several plump sweet ones.

Will planted several mums for Sueann.

We played with Tasha and Littlefoot.

Sueann entertained us with her strumming.

Kathy went out when the ice cream truck came along and picked up a few goodies.

Almost finished with corn season.

The flowers over Sueann's arbor are busting out all over!

We found a place to walk in the woods near Sueann's.

Kathy tried to scrub the rockers, but they would just not come clean.

Seems that the mold has gotten to them.

This is the view from Kathy's favorite sitting spot; front porch at Sueann's.

Tortilini and a salad; how Italian.

Littlefoot like playing with the balloon strings; and she likes to get  scratched by Will too.

On one morning walk we watched the construction workers putting in a new road.

Kathy took Sueann to her first garden club meeting in months; she was out with real people that had nothing to do with hospitals, doctors or Cancer.

She seemed to enjoy being out.

So the next day Kathy was to go grocery shopping and had Sueann come along; she did good learning to steer the cart and enjoyed doing her own shopping.

We will be here for a few more days; well we really don't know as our van is in the shop getting a new steering box installed and new springs put on.  They keep getting the wrong parts so we are hoping in a few days....but we just are not sure.  Meanwhile Kathy is helping her sister and Will is enjoying his new fitbit.
