Harley's

Image
This is John Harley.  He and his wife, Sylvia and daughter, Calida own Harley's.  Calida is now acting manager. This is a true Texas Honkey Tonk with Texas two-step music by John Harley and the Texas Express. This is the dancehall. It is where you meet new friends and enjoy the company of old friends. Couples dance. Peter on bass. Jeff on drums. Guest performers take the stage: this is Terry Daniels. And this is Will Tables fill with young and young at heart The bar is another gathering place. The new bartender, Mike. Shannon on the left is the waitress. Kathy loves to dance. Someone grabbed her for a twirl. The music makes your feet want to move! John got Kathy up for a dance too.  Yes, she dances with Will too, but can't take pictures and dance at the same time.  Kathy and Will make a great dancing pair. There is a free BBQ on Sunday's.  The front tinfoil was a rum cake Kathy brought, homemade by sister, Sueann. Don and John at the bar with Sylvia bartending. Guest player

Snow Geese

Image
There was a spot of white on the green field. We stopped to watch them landing. See them dance as they fall from the sky. They came in flocks of tens, twenties and the sky was dark with them. It all happened right here on the side of the road! This is a hawk that skimmed along the fence line looking for breakfast. The snow geese came in, flock after flock....Loved watching the dancing as they fell It doesn't look like much, but they were strung out over three football fields of grassy green grazing ground. And still more were coming. We stayed for about an hour; see the ones in the front grazing. Look it is an airplane taking off....yea right. Palm trees; we are in south Texas! Hey, they have our name!! The tile murals of the restrooms are so pretty. More and more palm trees as you enter the Rio Grande Valley of south Texas, our home for the winter. We stopped in Raymondville for a bite to eat... And before we knew it we were at Dixie Storage moving back into the Roadtrek!
