Gruene, Texas

Gruene Hall is the oldest, continually operating dance hall in the state of Texas.  It is in a quaint little town filled with eateries and eclectic shops.  The town has been around since the mid 1840s.  It was founded and settled by German farmers and the crop was cotton. The town died when the cotton gin burned down in the early 1920s.  But in the the early 1970s the estate was sold and it became a thriving community worth a walk about.
