Lyndon B Johnson was born and raised here.  The Texas White House is here. There are herds of white tailed deer. We had volunteered here for several years in the winters.   Kathy dressed up in period clothes and talked with visitors, gave tours of the house to school groups and prepared meals in the traditional 1915 kitchen for the volunteers and staff. The farm has a few cows, lots of saddles, but horse right now, and a few hens and turkeys. What a pretty proud rooster we found strutting around. The place looked the same, but with a different bed spread and nic-nacs changed a bit. Check this idea; beer bottles to line your flower beds. Kathy remembers doing canning here. Someone has been busy. Stephen is still here; now as manager of the farm.  We had a nice chat about how things stay the same and how things change. The sheep that we never saw on this side of the farm were so we watched them a while. And before we left Will gave that cow a good ear scratching. The Pedernales River is

The rains did come and there was a lot of it! The Luckenbach cat has the run of the place! Hayden was hosting and Dan came to play along. Pat was there too. Someplace special.... Speaking of special....Candice stopped by.  She is the sweetheart of Luckenbach and married to T-Roy Miller.  Butch Morgan was hosting for the afternoon, Dan stayed a while and then Jake Martin came and did a few songs including Kathy's request, her favorite: Buzzards in The Pen. At 8pm there was a dance in the DanceHall with Bill Lewis, Jake Martin and the L&M Kings. The music was great, but loud so loud we stood outside. Luckenbach is best with acoustic music.

We met Shan and Annie for drinks at Cultures on Main Street in Fredericksburg.  It was so nice to have time to sit and catch up over the last years.  They have been playing in Europe and have a trip planned for the UK and Ireland doing house concerts.  If you have not heard them sing check them out at  www.shannieband.com .  We call their music "Poltry"; Pop, folk and country all rolled into their own unique sound.  We fell in love with them at a time they had just met and fell in love.  They have been singing together ever since that chance meeting in Luckenbach about 10 years ago. We then drove down Luckenbach Road and stopped in town to see who was playing. SolPatch, Melissa Weatherly and Bryan Maldonado, were hosting. We met Pat, sitting to the far right. The baby chick was being called by its mother hen already up in the tree. The chick gave a squack and jumped flapping and made it to the branch. And walked up the tree!  Chickens roost in the trees at night. Rusty likes
