Hawaii Time
kathy went to a fruit cutting demonstration. Today they were cutting mango, papaya and pineapple. Do you know which is which?
The mango has a large seed so you slice along the seed, peel and slice. Slicing one direction gives you a smooth taste, slicing the other a crisp taste. Actually it taste the same, but it feels different in your mouth. Now to pineapple. You are not to cut the top off a pineapple; you are to twist it off!
The demo was to make little boats by quartering the pineapple. Then slicing between the outer skin and the meat leaving the core connected. Then slicing across the top just under the core so that it is like a handle. Next slice down the meat to make about 10 slices.
Push every other slice out, put toothpicks in every other slice like paddles for rowing and there you have it!
The papaya is sliced a few times to get the star center that is saved to garnish the fruit dish. The rest is peeled and chopped.
