Somerset to McClure Summit

This was our pull off along route 133 where we spent the night just beyond the Somerset coal mine.

Along the road we found some interesting sculptures; this was our favorite.

Great gardener with his lantern.

Wow, that is a lot of wire twisting to make those cactus needles!

Today is a good day to drive!

Love the little streams and rivers that flow along the roads of Colorado.

And those snow capped peaks in the distance!

Near Paonia State Park we came across a beat!

Well, actually it was at Bear Ranch Resort.

Wow, there is water flowing over the dam!

Look, look there is water flowing over the spillway!

That is Bear Ranch down there.

We are heading north to Carbondale.

Oh my, they need a sign for falling rock!  Looks like the entire hillside is falling.

Now you can see the top of the spillway.

The lake becomes a stream as we go.

See now it is just a stream.

From stream to mountains! Beautiful.

Windy twisty road; motorcycles and sports cars must love this.

Green, so green.

We are in the forest!!

Well, somewhere there are trees.

The campground is free and it was full.

So we drove up to the summit and up a rocky bumpy dirt road.

Loved the Aspens.

We stopped at a wide spot in the road and made brunch; what a view we had!

Will fixed us up a grand brunch.

This little guy is a bee fly; check out his stinger!

Check out our view!

Oh yes!  So we decided to just stay.

Happy hour.

Opps, what is this?  80 percent chance of thunder stoms, 2 percent chance of rain.  We got about 3 minutes of rain which was dried up in the next 3 minutes.

Look what we found under a tree. RIP  You have a beautiful spot to rest.

I love to travel along those streams .. They are so peaceful.
Even when the Van gets "sick", you just handle the problem and keep driving. You are true to your motto. "Today is a good day to drive".
