There's a stream across the valley, mountains rollin' in. Twenty-one years on the road have barely gone. There's an engine softly purring, underneath the hood. Roadtrek seems to be the way to go. Hey it's good to be back on the road, again. On the road again, like a band of gypsies we'll go down the highway. Goin' our way...

"To promote excellence, we have created the Above and Beyond program to recognize staff members who go the extra mile."
Robert invited us to the Above and Beyond Awards Program held at Passavant Hospital where he received the the 2012 award.

The caramel cheese cake was heavenly.
The Awardee!
At our table was a former awardee, and Barb who works with Robert.
LeeAnn Cerimele started things off with a story about why she was late: She had been in the parking lot and saw a woman with her car hood up. She asked if she could help. The lady looked at her like how can a woman in a suit help me, but she proceeded to tell her that her car was over heating and she couldn't get the cap off to add water. Ms Cerimele tried to take the cap off, but couldn't so flagged down a bus driver who couldn't and then went and got a man in overalls who did get the cap off and helped the woman on her way. Helping above and beyond is what the award is for so it fit right in. She then called up Robert. She congratulated him for receiving the May award and presented him with a certificate and a glass dome with stars inside.
Sharon, Robert's boss, then came up and told why he was getting this award: He had heard a family talking about being at the wrong hospital for their appointment. The woman at the desk was trying to give them directions across the hills and valleys of Pittsburgh. Robert offered to show them the back way to the hospital and helped them find not only the right hospital, but the correct desk for their appointment.
Robert added that he loves working for UPMC. He would have loved to have thanked his boss, Sharon, because without a great boss we would not be in a position to receive the great awards we do.
Sharon's presentation about Robert.
A team got the award for July, and a woman got the award for June.
The Awardees were congratulated.
And they were photographed.
Social time followed.
We were very honored to have been present for this ceremony.
I would say we ate well when we were with Justin in Hawaii in May/June! Yea, I know, Coffee isn't a meal. But coffee is a good way to start the day! Enjoyed a beer from time to time. Red wine is good with a meal too. But mostly we have water with meals; Will likes a squirt of sweet lemon in his.
This has been a strange year. We arrived in Florida in March and have stayed home since. That is about 6 months now. The Covid-19 virus has set the world to be a different place with stay at home orders, restaurants and bars closed, shelves in the grocery stores empty of toilet paper and antiseptic good, virtual school and doctor visits, hospitals that don’t let visitors enter and no only emergency care, wearing a mask when you are in public and people staying six feet apart. Who knows what the new world will be like after this.
Cliff married my little sister, Maria and became part of our family. We traveled to Italy together one summer Cliff had the coolest Man Cave! He really enjoyed technology and used it at work, home and helped everyone enjoy theirs too. He bought a boat that he and my sister enjoyed for many years. He walked his daughter down the isle. And welcomed Travis into his family. Not long after Layla was born and he became a very proud Pap Pap. He and my sister retired to Florida. Where Cliff learned to golf. One of my best memories are of our Cookie Days together. Cliff worked at Lowes and enjoyed his job in the paint department. He got sick; he found out he had stage 4-bladder cancer. We went on our traditional breakfast together each time we got together over the years. He finished the first round of chemo treatments. But the cancer went into his bones. He kept smiling and living life to the fullest. He enjoyed ...
