France Trip-Molsheim

A short drive took us to Molsheim, the cradle of Bugatti cars. The trade name was created by Ettore Bugatti in the early 1900s. Most renowned are the racing cars  that scored over a thousand victories between 1924-1939 during Grand Prix racing, and the luxury car, Royale, that had only six built in 1930. Today the name is owned by Volkswagen. This is the Metzig (1583) or great butcher's shop dominating the central square with its double stairway and clock figures. This is the second stop where we find a carousel. Beautiful persepctives along the way...Behind us you can see the Blacksmith's Gate (14th century) a vestige of the Mediaeval town walls. We arrived back at our hotel Best Western Europe and Ksenia made several tries with everyone's directions to back the car into the tiny space. She was successful!
