Atlantic Coast

November 7, 2007
The sun came out and warmed us up. We had been 44 degrees inside, but nice and warm under the blankets. Picked up a few things from Wal-Mart and made a stop for gas-$3.05ppg- and began our drive south on rt258 to the coast.

Wrightsville, NC is across the Intra coastal waterway (We dreamed of traveling here soon) and on the Atlantic Ocean. We walked along the beach at low tide. There were piles of crumbled shells, some shiny and polished from years of tossing in the sands. We found a McDonalds and filled our need form some greasy foods. Then we continued south. The Masonboro Walmart didn’t have the camera we were looking at so we picked up a few Fuji apples. At check out we learned that the manager had been stabbed chasing a robber. The manager was being transferred, as it is Walmart policy not to chase robbers. The stabber is being let go. What is our country coming to? We drove through Carolina Beach State Park and sat at the intra coastal waterway waiting to see a boat go through, but had to leave as none were in sight.

We met Edda and Bill Rudisill at the Park and chatted about their fifth wheel and how they want to get a nice little class B like ours; well, Edda wants to anyway. Kathy gave her a tour and she really seemed to like it. They have friends with a sail boat and they travel the globe. A sail boat would not be for us; our trip around Nova Scotia was enough of that!

Parked at the end of a street with the ocean just over the dunes and rental condos on either side we watched our nightly West Wing episodes. Kathy headed to bed and Will played some Fate. A knock came to the door. It was a plain clothed police who said we could not park there for the night, but suggested a lot down the road about a mile or so. While Kathy slept Will drove us to our new parking spot and we slept unchallenged for the rest of the night.
