Going East from Pittsburgh

October 29, 2007
We left Jayne’s about 10am and made a stop at Nicole’s. Damiana was feeding her new babydoll, Elizabeth, and Finnaeus was pretending to be a Jedi Knight with his light saber. We dropped off a few presents for Nicole, housewarming gifts: new sweeper, floor light and a pumpkin pie. Will resorted to reading the directions for putting the lamp together. He searched under the couch for his missing diamond earring, a gift Kathy brought him back from Hawaii; Kathy searched the garbage for a sweeper bag. We didn’t find it. Damiana came down with her little jewelry box and gave Will her little diamond stud, she had lost the other one.

Kisses and waves and we were back on the road again. Driving out of town we saw a sign for Martinelli's Garage! We pulled over and met David; he looks like family, but says there was not relationship.
We did a little Turnpike time then back on the two-lane. The trees are so golden, leaves scattering over the ground. Turner Covered Bridge was a nice pull off route 31; two bridge inspectors were taking pictures and filling in paperwork. We made a late lunch of salmon, French bread and sliced broccoli & tomato salad tossed with slices of fresh cranberry & red pepper. Thanks for desert Carmine; we had Dut’s cake and a mini Snickers bar.

The road took us over mountains and across valleys. We past Gettysburg and went on to York where we parked in the Manchester Mall parking lot, watched some West Wing episodes and went to bed. At about 11 the security guard came to our window and announced that there is no overnight parking in the mall lot. We went in and talked with the manager of Walmart who said there was nothing he could do, but did call security and the guard came in to talk with us. He suggested a lot around the corner which we drove to and slept through the night. So if you are in the York, PA area don’t park in the Walmart lot on the west side.
