November 27, 2006
White Sands National Monument is at the northern end of the Chihuahuan Desert in the Tularosa Basin with mountains all around. Two hundred and seventy-five square miles of glistening white sands, the world’s largest gypsum dunes, are preserved with plants and animals that have adapted to their white environment.
