Santa Arrives on Motorcycle
Santa arrived on motorcycle in the El Paso Thanksgiving Day Parade!
Well, our laptop lost its system 32 file and sat staring at us with its blue screen. We tried everything, but all we got was the blue screen with its gray box telling us of its missing file. We feared we would lose everything, all the photographs, all the journal entries, all our data files and so we called Justin. We needed a Windows XP disk. We found a CompUSA in El Paso, Texas. We had bought the laptop at CompUSA and purchased a 3 year warranty. But we were told it was a software problem not covered by our warranty. Our thoughts moved to saving our data and we purchased an external harddrive and had them backup our system for $100 and three hours of waiting. CompUSA would not use their WindowsXP disk to try to safe our system unless we paid $200 so we rebooted our system. The first thing the reboot does is save your data files! Well, there was a waste of $100, but a lesson learned. Now we have an external drive to safe our data, a back up system so to speak.
Well, we spent the next day putting the files back on the computer and trying to delete what we didn't need. It took a while to get the GPs up and running. Our new problem is getting the wifi to work. We can get a connection, but seem to be missing a google search folder.
All that was to tell you we are back to using our pocketmail composer. We will post journals and keep trying to get our laptop up and running. Wish us luck.
Meanwhile we are in El Paso. We spent Thanksgiving here. We went to the parade in the morning along with 200,000 other people. There were floats and bands and horses and stagecoaches. Then we found a quiet grassy spot and made our cornish hen, stuffing, sweet potato, and peas. Yum. We played Boggle and walked around the Chrismal National Monument where they had moved the Rio Grande River south and put up a cultural center. We watched movies and ate pumpkin pie.
