Monroe, Michigan to Toledo, Ohio

Image
We stopped in Monroe hoping to get a glimpse of Lake Erie.  The shore is all industrial so we didn't, but we did explore the city a bit. And we found a national battlefield of 1813. and there is a statue of Custer. He was born and raised here in Monroe, MI. The night found us at the Walmart in Toledo.

Cabela Outfitter Store

Bob suggested we stop at Cabela's, the world's foremost outfitter,  on our way to Toledo, OH.  There are some big bears to greet you when you pull in. They must get some interesting stuff delivered; look at all those wheels! Inside is like a museum with diorama of animals from around the world. Look what we found! A propane stove with an oven.  Love it!! Have to rearrange the back box to fit this in!! They even have fish tanks filled with fish! No, we didn't get it, but we did find a sport-brella that is used to keep wind and sun off and got that!

Lake Fenton Feels like Family

Image
Mary's grandkids were coming in for a week of fun. We prepared to head out when the neighbors came over.  We chatted away and Denise and Richard and the boys came over. Kathy had given Denise and Tina a grand tour of the Roadtrek and now it was Denise's turn to give a tour to Carson and Connor. When Carson was just a little guy, Grandma Mary had submitted a picture into a magazine baby picture contest; it was chosen and printed.  Today Carson learned it was National Enquire that the picture was posted in. Carson made some pretzels with cinnamon and sugar and brought some to share. Living around Lake Fenton is like living with your extended family.  Good feelings and happy times from morning till night.  Thanks Mary and Bob for making us feel like family.

We made it back to Mary's and got the pontoon covered before the big storm hit. As the storm rolled in so did Denise, one of Mary's daughters. We were at the neighbors, Tina and Mark, enjoying the shelter and good conversation.  Between Mark and Tina is their son, Tyler.  Mark was telling a story about his son getting ready for wresting this fall.  Will asked what weight class, unlimited?  Mark said no, 186 pounds.  Now you can imagine our reaction as we were thinking he was talking about Tyler, when Mark says, 'no not this son; the other one" Mary made the girls a special drink with orange mango juice. We decided a picture was needed and that is when all the rearranging took place.  But we figured it out! It was a good evening of con
