Luckenbach with ShAnnie

Image
Shan recently had triple bi-pass surgery and he is looking great! Annie too look great, young and vibrant. They are hosts at the picker circle. Jimmy Lee Saurage stopped by and did a few songs. Levi Darr had his fiddle/violin; what great music he makes. And yes, he had his guitar too. There was a man from up east of Grapecreek and he played his own original songs.  Greg Wall was in the house to the right of Levi. Steven on guitar and Ken on mandolin.  And yes, that is Jake Martin just walking in. Levi picked up a bottle and used his guitar like a dobro.   Friendships are show in the smiles. ShAnnie makes the best music; look them up and give them a listen.  They do house concerts all over the world and play around Fredericksburg, TX. Annie is an amazing singer of songs, Shan is a great musician and together they make up ShAnnie performing their own songs and singing lots of favorite cover songs too.  We love them.   Before we left we had a moment with Jake,...

Luckenbach, TX

This David Harris; he sings and chats with visitors. He let Will use his guitar.  Will sang Down the Luckenbach Road, a song he wrote about our times coming here when we volunteered at LBJ State Park just up the road in Stonewall.  This is the inside of the bar in Luckenbach, TX. Cute cat that lives here too. And of course the roosters. There use to be working cotton gin here, but a flood destroyed it; and this is all that is left. Across the creek is Armadillo Campground; there are cabins to rent there. This is a camping area open for special events. In the warm weather you might want to jump in the creek to cool off. This is the dam built after the floods that destroyed the gin. This are fills up during special events. Can you find the van? This picture hangs in the new restrooms. This shot was taken from the vantage point of the new restrooms; a bit further of a walk from the bar so you have to plan ahead! On our way out Lukenbach Road we saw a herd of goats and one spotted...

The hill country of Texas has some amazing places.  One of them is Luckenbach, that place that Waylon and Willie made famous with their song. New bathrooms have been installed after decades . Pretty fancy too . In the bar you might be lucky enough to see Rick Boss, renowned harmonica player and bartender too. There are plenty of cats to keep the place free of those little critters that like to tear up things.  And of course there are the chickens and the roosters. The roost in the live oak trees. It is amazing to see them climb a tree! Can you see one up there. People love taking pictures of them up there. David Harris is singing all day.  Sometimes he is joined by others, but he picks and sings regardless. Visitors come and go and at 5pm the picker circle starts.  Tonight's host is Claude Butch Morgan, the guy on the right under the live oak. People come for the ambience as much as the music, it is a place to meet up with friends and to make new friends. The "sweeth...
