Lunch

Image
We were both filled up with fresh mackerel that we saved our slice of pizza for an afternoon snack. We are enjoying fresh mackerel!! Will just had them in the frying pan for a few minutes and used Old Bay Seasoning. Kathy added some chopped fresh basil on hers. Thank you Sue for the fresh garden peas. So much better than canned! Hope you are all having a blessed Sunday. We are playing with paint.

Holy Mackerel

Image
it all started a few nights ago when Bill came aboard and started fishing and actually caught several mackerels. Then Dave came aboard and he too had the touch catching mackerel. So now Will was out fishing too. And so was Linda. Bill was giving his wife pointers. And she got those mackerel!! Bill showed Kathy how fillets were done. She did a few, but most of them she just cleaned and left whole. What a pretty sunset. We really like living down at the water's edge.

In The Harbor

Image
We headed out tonight to the edge of the causeway instead of out towards the mouth of the harbor. The view of Pictou from the water is just amazing.  It could be the jewel of Nova Scotia! Darlene and  Dave were joining us for a little evening ride. You can see the ship Hector at the Quay just right of the buoy.  The sun was peeking in and out of the clouds. The mill was chugging away. Cormorants were flying. And we were sitting adrift enjoying the view, the breeze and the company of good friends. The gulls would come and join us too. So we decided to see if they would like some taco shells. They liked them! Dave put the line in the water for just a minute and came up with fish! Yes the mackerel are still down there.  We tossed them to the gulls. As we approached the dock there was a sailboat in our sport; they had taken the opportunity to pull in and fill up on water for their up coming trip so we sat and waiting for them to head back over to their mooring sport and we pulled in to doc

Seafoam lavender Farm

Image
Seafoam Lavender Farm is located in Pictou County of Nova Scotia.   They have a few acres of beautiful fragrant lavender plants and a small store.  They make several of their own products too. Who knew there were so many different varieties of lavender?! It was a fun putting with Darlene.  Our real purpose for going out was to go to the outpatient clinic in Tadamagouch.  But when we got there we found that there was a fee of $927 for walking in the door plus a fee for the doctor, and for each test or exam.  After a little research we discovered that non residence of Canada are not covered in Canada by their insurance unless you have travel insurance. The walk-in clinics will not even take you if you are a non-resident!  So if you are planning to come to Canada get yourself travel insurance.  Kathy Martinelli-Zaun William G Bradley, JR visitvango@gmail.com Today is a good day to drive!
