Loop Day Six

We are anchored at the commercial fishing pier. The season for fishing crab is over.We are tied off on the wall You can see where we are.One of the fishing boats left. Will climbed up the ladder and this is what he saw…We watched them bring on the jetty wall. There was a diver down  and guys doing welding. Will cleaned off our anchor. And we decided to go ashore. Most of the fishing boats were up on dry land for the season. The Queen Anne's Lace was blooming. The fishing buoys were all stored away.Everything is in French. This church was built in the early 1900s.You can tell this is a shipping town. There is a University here. This is how we found out that they fish for crab here.We found a marine store and bought a new windshield wiper for the boat; the ladies were so nice they gave Will a souvenir cap.  They called the marina for us and found that they sell fuel so we thought that at high tide we would go around to the marina..Next stop was Tim Hortons for some internet time. What a great mural they had in town.We walked over to see the marina and wow were we glad we did; they didn't sell diesel just gasoline.  We talked with the girl in charge and she made some calls and found that the trucks only deliver diesel in very large quantities. As we only need about 30 gallons they would not come out.  The young man sitting at the marina called his grandfather who had a pick up truck and he came out. Will emptied six of our reserve cans into the tank and the grandfather drove us to the gas station and back with our full fans.   We gave him money for his trouble and for the girl from the marina, she got a jar of Ray's mustard.  She had come along as the grandfather spoke no english.   So everyone was happy.

We now have enough diesel to make the crossing and not have to worry about finding it on the other side of Chaleur Bay.

Meal times are good; we have dry food aboard like the fetichinni alfredo that we added some fresh pepper to.  Served with a side of pink salmon from a can and a sprig of parsley for color. The kitchen: stove which get put away during travel, the sink is two round tubs one for waking and one for rinsing.  The fridge is run off solar.  And the water is just a push and it runs out of the jug.
