Today we packed our backpack and headed out to hike all day on trail247 of the Santa Fe National Forest through the Pecos Wilderness. As we reached the steps to cross the first bridge we saw this little guy sunning.

Look a yucca plant blooming in the forest!

This wild rose was sure a find to these bugs!

Can you find the fish?

Oh the views!!

And the delicate wildflowers.

There are 22 creek crossings not counting the bridges.

This flower is getting pollinated.

Butterflies also enjoyed sunning.

Some crossing were easy and others were a bit of a challenge, but we managed not to get our feet wet.

Sunning flutterby.

A ladyslipper!

We found this oddity, someone must be on a hunt!

Sueann, I bet you know what this one is called! I had to look it up.

Crossings....

A butterfly convention!

Stopping for a snack.

Virginia bluebells out here in NM!

Curly daisy.

Finding wildflowers along the way.

And seeing the spectacular views.

A small cluster of tiny daisys.

We managed all of the crossings!

These are called horsetails, they were around when the dinosaurs roamed!

Violets purple ones and white ones.

From the trees to the mountains.

Variegated plants.

What a beautiful view!

Even the pattern of moss in the cracks of the rock are beautiful!

We had to remember to look up! Our hike went out two and a half hours and back two hours. We past all of our old stopping places and continued up the canyon The sites, the smells, the textures, the sounds were all worth the walk.

We stopped for our snack and water break, then turned around and came back to camp. First we soaked our poor tired feet and then freshened up for dinner.

Our plans changed so Will cooked up a nice shrimp stirfry while Kathy made a salad. After dinner we sat at the campfire a while before heading in for an episode of Castle before bed.
