A Walk About Dean Porter Paark

February 5, 2009

Our morning constitutional was around the Dean Porter Park in Brownsville, Texas. We found some interesting things along the way. The bronze statues, the Heritage Complex and the Brownsville Museum. We entered the Ringgold Civic Pavilion and met Jamie. She told us about the Brownsville Winter Residents Club. They have some exciting events that include, movies, tours, classes, parties, talks and shows. You can check them out at http://www.winterresidentsclubofbrownsville.org/

We loved the tile mural inside the building. It depicts Brownsville's colorful past from pre-history through 2000. A reproduction of the original watercolor by Don Breeden was hand painted on individual ceramic tiles then installed as a 14 x 40 foot mural.
