Study Butte to Alpine Texas

We stopped at the Study Butte post office and sent off our income taxes, doing out part to help finance the federal government. Seventy miles to Alpine. It was good because t reminded Through the desert, past a few 6000 foot mountains, over the hills and right before you get into town there was an inspection station where all vehicles stop and are subject to inspection. We were just asked how many were in our vehicle, are we US citizens and told to “go on.”

We stopped at picnic area where we had a mouse drop down from the roof of our black van, and ran across Kathy’s legs. In Alpine we did some internetting in the shade of the motel, we did laundry across the street, filled up on gas for $3.36 a gal, did some shopping-only $100, got propane for $18 at Alpine RV and they let us fill up on water too, made some phone calling and came up with a plan for the next day or so. Had lunch and relaxed a bit at the Confederate Col. Bruster monument for which Bruster County was named. We drove out of town to a wide spot in the road.

You can remember the exact spot you were when the mouse dropped down? That had to be 3-4 years ago. Well maybe if it was my legs I would remember too but I would not stop there again. ha ha .. I wonder how long you had the mouse with you?..Love your pictures.

Pandemic

 This has been a strange year. We arrived in Florida in March and have stayed home since. That is about 6 months now. The Covid-19 virus has set the world to be a different place with stay at home orders, restaurants and bars closed, shelves in the grocery stores empty of toilet paper and antiseptic good, virtual school and doctor visits, hospitals that don’t let visitors enter and no only emergency care, wearing a mask when you are in public and people staying six feet apart. Who knows what the new world will be like after this.

Clifford Karl Lambert

Cliff married my little sister, Maria and became part of our family. We traveled to Italy together one summer Cliff had the coolest Man Cave! He really enjoyed technology and used it at work, home and helped everyone enjoy theirs too. He bought a boat that he and my sister enjoyed for many years. He walked his daughter down the isle. And welcomed Travis into his family. Not long after Layla was born and he became a very proud Pap Pap. He and my sister retired to Florida. Where Cliff learned to golf. One of my best memories are of our Cookie Days together. Cliff worked at Lowes and enjoyed his job in the paint department. He got sick; he found out he had stage 4-bladder cancer. We went on our traditional breakfast together each time we got together over the years. He finished the first round of chemo treatments. But the cancer went into his bones.
