Turned Around at the International Bridge in Presidio

February 22, 2008

Along Farm Road 107 we saw some grass fires burning. We were not sure which side of the river they were on. We came to the border town of Presidio with Ojinaga, Mexico just across the bridge and turned around and headed back east. We stopped just a hike in Closed Canyon. We worked our way on the gravel and solid stone floor zig zagging toward the light. The canyon walls are so high above us we can not even imagaine what is above, but hear the call of a bird....maybe it thinks we will be dinner! There is no green in the canyon; the waters rushing during rains must wash away all living things. After walking about twenty minutes in one direction we had to turn around so as not to get caught in there in the dark. We never did find the end. We continued our drive back; everything looks different when you turn around!
