Baby Animals At Gladys Porter Zoo in Brownsville

Image
One of our favorite spots in the Valley is the Gladys Porter Zoo. There is a family of gorilla that we have come to know very well. A new baby was added while we were up north. The young komodo dragon can be seen hanging on mom. The kangaroo young are starting to come out of their pouches. Mom's look on making sure everything is okay. One new little monkey explores the island a short distance from its Mom. Will's favorite was the new little camel. Last year's camel is already in the big habitat with the grownups so it was nice to have another young on down in the nursery.

Friends Playing Joker

Image
Friends Bob&Mary and Charlie&Connie invited us for a few rounds of Joker. We snacked on goodies, played Joker and enjoyed each other's company. We were so happy to see Connie is up and feeling so much better.

Hanging Out at Harley's

Image
After painting tables we served lunch to John and Sari. It was fun eating in the bar! Kathy's salad made with cabbage, brocoli, carrots, basil leaves, and cucumbers was a hit ; and Will's pork chops and baked potatos were yummy too. A group of bikers from different states showed up filling the parking lot with a pretty view. The long overloaded flatbed showed up with a huge metal thingie...soon to become Harley's new storage building or smoker, or bomb shelter, or still.

Painting Tables

We rolled all the cable reels that we found at Harley's and starting painting them all a nice base black. They will soon be new tables used in and around the dance hall.

Oysters and Steak At Harley's

Image
Fresh oysters on the grill is our new favorite seafood. The oysters were on the grill with a mesquite fire burning under them. The shells sometimes popped. The juices simmered. They were ready. John and Will did the shucking and Sylvia and Kathy did the eating....well, we shared too. The little jewels, all hot and slippery, just melted in your mouth and slid down your throat. Yum. Then came fresh sirloin steaks grilled and sliced, warm tortillas and pasta salads. Thanks for a yummy meal.

Machine Operator Will

Will got his wish; he drove the big Cat crushing the rock in the new parking area at Harley's.

Market Days on South Padre Island

Image
We stopped in the convention center on the island after we saw so many cars parked there to find it was Market Days. We go to the door to find out there was a $1 per person to get in. Can you imagine paying to shop? Well, look out, if thise becomes popular you might be paying to walk into Ross Park Mall or South Hills Village!
