Craig to Dinosaur National Monument in Colorado

Image
Craig, Colorado has changed their tree trunks into wonderful art! Dinosaur National Monument is where the Yampa and Green rivers come together on their way to the Colorado River. The Yampa headwaters are in the Flat Tops near Phippsburg, Colorado. The Colorado originates in the upper elevations of Rocky Mountain National Park above the town of Grand Lake.

Congradulations to Crystal and Forrest for finding over two-thirds of the "wedding bells" we hid at Songbird Ranch while they were away on their honeymonn. But, c'mon kids, never, ever, leave us alone with your stuff, 'cause this is the kind of thing that will happen!

Four Valley Hay to Songbird Ranch

July 20, 2009 We said goodbye to John and the animals: Goldie, Silky and Gonzo, and Calico. Then we headed west across the Rocky Mountains going back through Rocky Mountain National Park. Grand Lake was a great spot to stop for a late breakfast at the little park on the lake. Then we continued our drive and ran into a bit of rain before we arrived at Songbird Ranch. Fish was so excited to see us. We threw the ball about a hundred times for him and gave him a big drink from the hose. Will was practicing his guitar picking and kept hearing this tap-tap-tap. He finally stopped playing and listened. It was a bird tapping on the window of the little cabin; he was stuck inside. Will opened the door and out flew the frustrated Flicker. He landed on a telephone pole to get his barrings before flying off. Forrest arrived home first; Crystal has a long drive from Eagle and gets home about 6:30pm. We had a wonderful visit laughing and talking and laughing and sharing stories and adventures and l

Hay Day at Four Valley Hay

Image
July 19, 2009 Will started up the 1941 Farmall and raked the hay into windrows. Then John arrived ready to bale. And soon enough there were 100 bales stacked neatly in the shed.

Four Valley Hay--Danger lurks

Image
Well I'm out in the field taking pictures of the boys on their toys. I get wacked by a rake as I was standing partically on top of it and the baler came by. Think they would watch out for their own equpment! Big bump forming on my arm. Walking back to the car and a big snake and I came face to face scaring each other half to death! This photographing can be dangerose business! (Tried looking him up and these come closest to what I think I saw) Today is a Good Day to Drive! Van-Go Sent from my iPhone
